The San Diego Chargers got reacquainted with Vincent Jackson. It was
almost as if he was never gone. Jackson caught a career-high three
touchdown passes, Philip Rivers surpassed 4,000 yards passing for the
third straight season and the Chargers beat Alex Smith and the San
Francisco 49ers 34-7 on Thursday night to stay alive in the AFC West
race.

Tigers, Ordonez agree to 1 year, $10M (AP)

The busy Detroit Tigers have addressed another need. Magglio Ordonez
and the Tigers have agreed to a $10 million, one-year contract, a
person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press on
Thursday. The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the
deal hadn't been announced, said the deal first reported by SI
includes potential award bonuses.

P.A. Parenteau, Blake Comeau and Matt Moulson scored in a 99-second
span and the New York Islanders won for only the second time in 22
games, beating the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 on Thursday night. Rick DiPietro
stopped 30 shots for the Islanders, who had lost six straight. DiPietro
has both wins for New York in the last 22 games.

The Boston Celtics have had one important constant during the recent
rash of injuries -- the Big Three are still healthy. Kevin Garnett had
17 points and 14 rebounds -- one of three Boston players with a
double-double -- to lead the Celtics to their 12th straight win, 102-90
over the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday night.
